Homemade Ice-Cream

By on

Homemade ice cream. Its really easy to make so get the kids involved! It tastes smooth, creamy and delicious!

Its January 25th 2021 and my girls are being home schooled due to COVID-19 lockdown. To give them a break from academic work, I decided to give them a cookery lesson. Plus it gave them a good 20 minutes break from technology! So, we made some homemade ice-cream. It was really simple to make, tasty and lasted for a few days!

The ingredients to make homemade ice-cream is detailed and explained in the recipe card below.

What you need

Homemade ice cream ingredients

To make the ice-cream you need a large bowl, electric whisk, sweetened condensed milk, a pot of double cream, vanilla extract and toppings including a flake, sprinkles and yummy sauce.

Lets make homemade ice-cream

Pour the sweetened condensed milk and double cream into the bowl. Then add 2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Then whisk until the mixture becomes thick and creamy.

Carefully scoop the contents in a tub. Cover with cling film and put it in the freezer for 4 hours, or until the ice cream is hard.

Hayley’s Handy ice-cream tip

When I got the ice-cream out of the freezer it was difficult to scoop. So, I poured boiling water into a cup. Placed the ice cream scooper into the water for a few seconds. It made scooping the ice-cream really easy.

Don’t forget the ice-cream topping!

We added some flakes, colourful sprinkles and yummy strawberry sauce! This ice-cream was so easy to make, the girls really enjoyed making and eating it. Well it kept them entertained and gave them a break from school work and computer screens!
